Day 01: Cusco Ollanta
We will pick you up early from your Cusco accommodation and drive 2.5 hours to the famous starting point of the Inca Trail, Km 82. Here you will meet your team: the wonderful porters and chefs that will accompany you on this four-day journey. Before proceeding, we will be required to show our identification and permits to the Park Ranger, but don’t worry, your guide will be responsible for this! We will pass the Vilcanota river and start our trek on Inca Flats, a series of gentle small ups and downs against the background of the majestic Veronica Mountain at 5682m/ 18,641ft. Within approximately 5.5 hours we will arrive at the archeological site of Patallacta, “settlement on a platform” where we will eat lunch, and set up camp. You will have the afternoon to explore Patallacta, the nearby ruins of Q’ente and Llactapata, and the surrounding river valley. We’ll eat an early dinner in preparation for a big following day.
